We are a foodie couple who had two kids who are now foodies too. We were going to write a family cookbook, book style, but decided it might be more fun to make it an online, dynamic, changeable cookbook.
We first had Erin. She would eat anything. We cooked, we took her to restaurants, and she ate. She took sliced red peppers in her lunches in preschool, and came home and asked, “Mom, are peppers yucky? Because Eve said they were yucky.” We asked, “Do you think they’re yucky?” Erin said, “No! I think they’re delicious!” And a foodie was born. She is now a vegan, which is a huge adjustment for us. We will live.
Then we had Jordan, who was the most mellow baby ever. But, he didn’t eat anything. He hated applesauce (what baby does this?). He hated meat (except chicken). He wouldn’t try something if it was new. He loved muffins so much that I baked squash and sweet potato muffins just to get a vegetable into him. Once he ate nothing but peanut butter for a week. So, without intending to lie, when he asked one day, “What kind of chicken are we having for dinner?” I said…”Um, pork chicken.” He ate it. And he liked it. So, we had chicken every night. Beef chicken, fish chicken, you get the idea. And he did not grow up warped, in fact, he’s an astrophysicist who likes many foods, but not much meat after all.
We want to share some of our favorite recipes with you. They will be fun to eat, fairly easy to prepare, often freezer worthy, and definitely delicious. They will mostly use home made ingredients, not pre-made, although sometimes we make exceptions.
